Day One Food

I have been tired all day today due to returning from California yesterday after sitting in the car for nearly 12 hours with 3 little kids, fun stuff.

I made the cardinal sin and didn't eat breakfast. I had a lunch around 11:30, I chose to eat at Extreme Pita, great food. Chose the club over cheese steak due to lower calories.

I had a large Pita, but definitely would have been satisfied with the normal size. I also had "baked" chips and diet Pepsi.

Extreme Club Pita w/ lettuce, olives, onions, cheese & light ranch. 542 Calories
Chips - 170 calories

Lunch Total - 712 Calories. Way too high, but considering I didn't eat breakfast, I'm ok with that. Next time I will order a small and skip chips, that will save me 290 calories, making it the perfect size meal.

I didn't eat between lunch and dinner. For dinner I had 2 pieces of Roast Beef, no larger than my fist combined, a 1/4 of a baked potato and watermelon. I don't know that Calorie count, but I know it was low. They had fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, my favorite, and I didn't even have one.

I'm proud of my first day, except I didn't get any exercise in, but I didn't go back for 2nds, nor did I have the cookies that looked really good.

The Beginning

My daily goals are quite simple. This isn't a fad diet, I'm not trying anything new, nor am I doing weight loss pills. To the opposite extreme, I'm not trying to eat only "healthy food." The key to this change is strictly better choices and portion control.

I will weigh in every Friday starting on 6/12/09, and will give new measurements every month starting on 7/1/09. All weigh-ins will be first thing in the morning to achieve consistency. I will exercise 6 days a week.

Starting weight: 273.5 lbs

Time To Change

I guess the best place to start is the introduction. I live in Phoenix, AZ, I am 31 years old and I have gained and lost 240lbs over the past 4 years.

Every year I go on some type of diet, and usually do well... for a while. Every year I have managed to loose 20-40 lbs, and every year I put on more. Last year I managed to lose 28 lbs, but I have now gained 38 lbs, for a grand total of 66 lbs gained and lost last year.

I am now tired of dieting, it doesn't work. I need to now be in the mindset that I am changing the way I live my life, and there are radical changes coming. I am starting a 2nd job that I will work from 4 am - 9:30 am 6 days a week. Keep in mind, if I have to get up before 7:30 am, then I am in a bad mood.

Why now? Simple, first, I'm tired of feeling constantly tired and letting food run my life. Second, I am currently 10 lbs over my highest weight ever. Thirdly, I took my kids to a theme park I went to all the time growing up and I had to walk off the ride in fron of 50+ people because I didn't fit. That was embarassing and I can not let that happen again.

Please follow me and I hope to get a group going that will work with me in our common goal of losing weight!
